About the Jeep Wrangler Rubicon 1:24
The Wrangler in 1:24 is the model we recommend most often for a child of six or seven, and the roof is why: it lifts off in one piece, the seats and roll cage are underneath, and it presses back into place without tools. It is also one of the sturdiest models we sell, with a high floor, thick sills and no low spoilers to snap.
The doors and bonnet open, the seven-slot grille is a separate part, and the bumpers are the Rubicon steel type with the red tow hooks picked out. The tailgate carries the full-size spare. The tyres are chunky off-road pattern rubber on the Rubicon's five-spoke wheels. Paint on this batch is a satin green with black arches.
The 1:18 Wrangler adds a two-piece roof, steering and an opening tailgate if you want the larger version; the two look right together at different sizes.
Living with a 1:24 scale model
At 1:24 the model is around 19 cm long, compact enough for a desk and big enough for the doors to open and the dashboard to be readable. This is the scale to buy if you want a few cars rather than one, and the pull-back motor and lights make it the safest choice for a young enthusiast.
