Mercedes-Benz S-Class W223 1:18 Diecast Model

The W223 is the S-Class that put a tablet on the centre console and screens in the back of the front seats, and the model reproduces both: the portrait MBUX display is printed in its off state, and the rear headrest screens are moulded into the seat backs. At 1:18 the car is long, close to 29 cm, which is what makes it read as an S-Class rather than an E-Class on the shelf.

The body is die-cast zinc with a gloss black finish that shows off the car's single unbroken shoulder line. The three-pointed star stands on the bonnet as a separate part and the grille is a chromed insert with the correct three horizontal louvres. Doors open on both sides, the rear doors onto a cabin with the individual rear seats and centre armrest picked out in a lighter tone. The wheels are the multi-spoke AMG Line pattern with painted brake discs behind them.

Who it suits: anyone who drives one, anyone who wants to, and anyone building a Mercedes shelf who already has the G-Wagon and needs the saloon beside it. It sits well with the W140 S-Class in the same scale for a two-generation pairing.
