No model on the site is ordered more often than this one, and it is the one we suggest to anyone who has never bought a diecast. The new Defender's flat roof, square arches and upright tail suit die-casting perfectly, and the model adds the expedition accessories the real car is usually photographed with: a roof rack and a side ladder, both fitted as separate parts rather than moulded into the roof.

Four doors open onto the Defender's exposed-structure dashboard with the grab bar across the passenger side, and the bonnet lifts. The rear door is side-hinged with the spare wheel on it. The Alpine windows along the roof edge are moulded, and the wheels are the five-spoke design on all-terrain tyres. Paint on this batch is a satin black; the photo shows the current colour.

At ₹1,499 it is the value pick of the whole SUV collection. The 1:18 Defender is the licensed, larger version with the working tailgate and lights if you want to step up.
