About the Mercedes-Maybach GLS 600 1:18
The Maybach GLS is the SUV that Mercedes sells to people who used to buy the Maybach S-Class and now want to sit higher, and in India it has become the car of choice for a certain kind of arrival. The model gets the signature elements right: the vertical-slat grille with the Maybach lettering across the bonnet edge, the two-tone paint split along the shoulder line, and the fixed running boards under the doors.
All four doors open, and the rear ones are the reason to buy this model over the standard GLS: the back seats are two individual reclining chairs with a full centre console between them and folding tables in the front seat backs, all modelled. The bonnet lifts over the V8. The wheels are the 23-inch multi-spoke Maybach design and the front pair steer. Paint on the batch photographed is obsidian black over a lighter lower body.
It belongs beside the G-Wagon and the S-Class on a Mercedes shelf, or on its own as a gift for someone who has just bought the real one.
Living with a 1:18 scale model
